Aachen Body Engineering Days 2022 - in a unique atmosphere, international experts discuss the latest developments as well as trends in car body, material and production technology at "Das Liebig" in Aachen for the 15th time.

  • The Aachen Body Engineering Days 2022 take place on September 20 and 21. In addition to lectures by renowned speakers from industry and research, the latest car bodies and concepts will also be presented as part of the accompanying exhibition.
  • Live from "Das Liebig" (Aachen), fka, supported by its cooperation partner the Institute for Automotive Engineering of RWTH Aachen University, will once again be presenting its renowned specialist conference in a hybrid format, with visitors coming together both online and on-site for lectures, exhibition and networking.
The Aachen Body Engineering Days 2022 take place on September 20 and 21. In addition to lectures by renowned speakers from industry and research, the latest car bodies and concepts will also be presented as part of the accompanying exhibition. Live from "Das Liebig" (Aachen), fka, supported by its cooperation partner the Institute for Automotive Engineering of RWTH Aachen University, will once again be presenting its renowned specialist conference in a hybrid format, with visitors coming together both online and on-site for lectures, exhibition and networking.

 

Aachen, September 2022: At the 15th Aachen Body Engineering Days, renowned experts from vehicle construction, vehicle development and industry will once again present the highlights of the year from the car body industry in Aachen.

In 19 interesting lectures, current series production vehicles, innovative tooling and structural concepts and the latest bodywork developments will once again be presented. The keynotes will provide insights into the development of the BMW iVision Circular and the subject of mega castings in body structures. In addition, participants can expect a partner session for the first time this year: moderated by the materials initiative alumobility, this session will revolve around cost-efficient lightweight solutions made of aluminum for a more sustainable mobility.

A special highlight of the Aachen Body Engineering Days are always the exhibited car bodies and full vehicles. This year, the VW ID Buzz, the new BMW 7, the BMW iVision Circular and the Cupra Formentor, among others, will inspire the participants. For the first time, the Cupra Born, a vehicle after a pole crash test, will be on display. These highlights will be complemented by the associated exhibition, where well-known companies will present their projects and innovations.

Prof. Dr.-Ing Peter Urban, Vice Director of the Institute for Automotive Engineering of RWTH Aachen University, opened the 15th Aachen Body Engineering Days on Tuesday morning and in his introductory speech he emphasized the continuity as well as the importance that the Institute o for Automotive Engineering has had in the automotive industry for 120 years, fka Gmbh for 41 years and the Aachen Body Engineering Days for 15 years. Furthermore, he went into detail about the enormous technical developments that have been presented at the Aachen Body Engineering Days over the last 15 years.

With the opening of the event, innovative presentations awaited the participants. Kai Langer, Head of BMW i Design, in addition to his exciting presentation on the BMW iVision Circular, brought the concept car itself directly to the event, which was very well received in the exhibition.

The presentation by Dr. Mikael Fermér on the subject of mega castings and the use of this technology at Volvo Car Corporation also deserves special mention. The rest of the lecture program was also distinguished this year by its particularly great variety and quality. On the first day, participants were able to experience presentations by Volkswagen AG, Opel Automobile GmbH, Audi AG, NIO Performance Engineering, Beauvary GmbH and Teijin Automotive Technologies Wupptertal GmbH.

The first day of the event will be rounded off with a large festive evening in the heart of Aachen, where the insights gained from the presentations heard can be discussed and new contacts made in a relaxed atmosphere.

The program for the second day of the event will also be a highlight for experts in the car body industry, with many top-class presentations. Lectures by Constellium, Novelis, Atlas Copco, ARO Welding Technologies, Sika Automotive, Magna International, Nemak, Baosteel Tailored Blanks S.r.l., Ricardo, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG and Bühler AG will characterize the Aachen Body Engineering Days on the second day of the event in Aachen.
